The Student Health Center houses both Student Health Services and the Student Counseling Center (SCC). The Davidson College Student Health Service provides routine health care with the services of a full-time nursing staff and part-time staff of physicians contracted with nearby medical groups. The SCC offers students consultation in areas including time and stress management, family crisis and coping issues, eating disorders, anxiety, depression and substance abuse.
Originally known as the Potts House, the home on Main Street was built in the 1880s and added on to in the 1920s. It served as the Kappa Alpha chapter house from 1922-1927 and was acquired by Davidson in 1946. A substantial renovation in 1991 doubled the size of the building for its current use.
The Student Health Center is located on 514 North Main Street at the main entrance to the college at Glasgow Street. Limited parking is available in the lot to the east of the building accessible from Glasgow. Additional parking is available across the street behind the Admissions and Financial Aid offices in Grey and Harding Houses.
