On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the Davidson Wildcats beat the Emory University Eagles by a score of 10-4. Emory scored first, but Davidson followed up with four goals of their own for a 4-1 first quarter lead. With a solid defensive effort, the Wildcats ended the second half with a 6-3 lead. Ryan Robertson (VA) started off the third quarter with a goal and, with a defensive shutout in the quarter, Davidson ended the third period with a 9-3 lead over Emory. They played strong to the end, finishing the game with a final score of 10-4. To the delight of our fans (especially the visiting Riedels), Davidson's offense was again led by junior co-captain midfielder Garen Riedel (MA) with 4 goals, followed by sophomore attack Jamie Butler (IN) with 2 goals (2 assists), sophomore midfielder Dan Devine (NY) with 2 goals, first-year midfielder Ryan Robertson (VA) with 2 goals. Leading the offensive support was first year attackman Rob Heppenstall (SC) with 2 assists, followed by sophomore attackman Nick Tapert (NY) with 1 assist, and junior defenseman Bron Tennis (PA) with 1 assist.
Senior goalie Ben Ralston (CO) played another solid game in goal for us, with 10 saves, as did our defense of senior defensive midfielder Matt Monson (SC), junior co-captain Geoffrey Fehling, junior defenseman Bron Tennis (PA), sophomore defenseman John Hoke (WV).
