These are the Butler students who will conduct fieldwork on issues of globalization in urban and rural China this summer, from May 21 - July 4, 2001. We will start in Hong Kong, then go to Shanghai, and end the trip in rural Meizhou, G uangdong. All the students have taken at least one year of Chinese (Mandarin) here at Butler (Payne has taken two years).

Rebecca Dayhuff is a first-year College of Business student, majoring in International Management.
Jeffrey Payne is a junior, majoring in Political Science.
Matthew Guebard is a sophomore, majoring in anthropology.
Jennifer Fugate is a first-year student, majoring in International Studies.
Elizabeth Jackson is a sophomore, majoring in anthropology.

The group is led by Prof. Eriberto Lozada, in the Anthropology Program (for more about me, visit my website). This fieldwork trip is generously supported by the Fr eeman Foundation, through the AsiaNetwork Freeman Student-Faculty Fellows Program (www.asianetwork.org).

We look forward to a fun, exciting, and rewarding time in China!
