Construction is currently underway in Athienou on a new building designed by architect Giorgos Hadjichristou. It will serve as a town hall, municipal building, museum of Byzantine icons, and museum for the finds of Malloura. The museum, which will also contain a lab for the project, is scheduled to be complete in 2006.
