Others initially dedicated its pages to poetry, but in
its ongoing effort to stay new and different, it began to experiment
with other genres and forms, publishing reviews and plays. In January
1919 (Vol. 5: No. 2), Others published its first art reproductions:
Samuel Halpert's "Interior," Charles Prendergast's "Crepuscule," and Charles
Demuth's "New
England Houses," an image similar to his 1916 watercolor, "Red
Chimneys" (right). |

The issue also included William Zorach's "Sailing," a
linoleum cut print similar to "Sunrise" (1916), which
probably came from the
same
series. |
