About the Writing Center Site

Online Literature and Text Archives

Project Gutenberg

An extensive site with a wide collection of pre-1923 classic works of English literature.  The works are in unadorned files that can be downloaded and formatted as you see fit.

Electronic Literature Foundation

In contrast to the Project Gutenberg site, the ELF site is designed to have texts read on screen.  Though it only has 109 titles, they are widely read, and the viewer can control a variety of view functions, such as choosing an Italian or English edition of The Prince.

CETH Directory of Electronic Text Centers

An annotated directory of academic collections of electronic texts, many of which are more arcane than the texts in the Gutenberg project.
