Brandenburg on the Web

Brandenburg is the Bundesland that surrounds Berlin.  The state relies mostly on agriculture and forestry to support its economy.  There is also a small amount of coal mining and steel production, but its importance is secondary to that of agriculture.

The capital city of Potsdam is the largest city in the state.  Another city of importance for the region is Cottbus, located in the southeast corner of the Bundesland near the Polish border.

Like other parts of the former East, Brandenburg is beginning to experience investment by large companies.  Mercedes-Benz recently opened a truck assembly plant here.
