Dr. Hiram Maxim is Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of German Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he and his colleagues launched innovative undergraduate curricular reforms to better integrate modern language, literature, and area studies. Professor Maxim also worked as Curriculum Coordinator in the German Department at Georgetown University where he oversaw the development and implementation of the integrated and nationally recognized curriculum “Developing Multiple Literacies” with particular emphasis on reading in the educational process.
