An Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome applicants who would enhance the diversity of our faculty.

Teaching:
Davidson College seeks teachers of distinction who excel in stimulating and challenging our students to perform to the best of their capabilities.  Four major goals characterize the departmental program:
     (A)  To provide knowledge of principal fields in psychology for both majors and nonmajors. This goal includes an orientation to the history of psychology, the research methods used to increase knowledge in the field, philosophical and ethical issues in both gaining and using knowledge, laboratory experience, and an opportunity to experience how psychology is used or applied through internships, practica, and field-related courses.
     (B)  To prepare students for graduate work in psychology or psychology-related careers (e.g., neuroscience, mental health profession, personnel, psychometrics).
     (C)  Through emphasis on the scientific method and critical thinking skills, to prepare students for graduate or professional work in fields other than psychology (e.g., law, medicine, business, ministry, communications, education).
     (D)  To contribute to the discipline of psychology through research and professional involvements. Student/professor partnership in scholarly investigations constitutes a hallmark of the departmental major. This partnership translates naturally into independent studies, theses, conference presentations, and coauthorship.

Teaching Responsibilities:

Faculty teach 5 courses per year (usually 4 preparations).

Research:
Davidson College seeks faculty who demonstrate superior professional attainments in research, scholarship, and curriculum design. For details of current faculty research activities, see individual faculty web pages.
