Steroids...

The most common treatment includes corticosteroids or ACTH. 
 ACTH leads to dramatic symptomatic improvement in 90% of children.
The effects of ACTH on adults is unclear.

 

When tumors are present...

Surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy may be necessary.
Surgery to remove tumors have variable effects.  In about half of children with neuroblastoma removals, neurological improvement was seen with in 1 month.

New treatments...

Other possible treatments include plasmapheresis, immunoglobulin, benzodiazepines, and sympathomimetics. 
Research is still being conducted on some of these treatments.
