Our Facilities
We operate in The John R. Cunningham Fine Arts building erected
in 1961 on the site of the original Chapel of Davidson College
from 1838.
Our Main Theatre is the 289 seat Lillian
Brown Hodson Hall. This proscenium stage is used for two large
productions per academic year. We also perform smaller productions
in our 100 seat convertible Black Box
Theatre. We perform two larger productions per academic year
in this space as well as a number of smaller produced one-acts
and studio shows.
Our acting/directing studio is a large room with a soft
floor which accommodates our varied needs. We also offer a script
library, indexed for students and faculty reference.
Davidson Theatre offers a unique Design
Studio which accommodates both Scenic and Lighting Designs.
The department also has a well equipped costume shop and accompanying
storage facility as well as two dressing rooms and a large Make-up
area with traditional lighted mirrors. We have a well equipped
scene shop with the typical power tools (Radial Arm Saw, Table
Saw, Band Saw, Miter Box, Air Compressed Pneumatic, Cordless Makita
Drills and etc) and maintain an off campus warehouse for storage.
