Issac (Ike) Bailey

Nieman Fellowship Harvard University
B.A. Davidson College

I am a 1995 Davidson College graduate and serving as the James K. Batten Professor of Public Policy.

I've worked as a professional journalist for the past two decades, including a long stint at The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, and have been published by several dozen outlets. I am currently an interim associate editor for The Charlotte Observer editorial board, and a contributor to, and Harvard's Nieman Reports.

My classes at Davidson concern journalism ethics and fake news, as well as understanding race and American journalism. My interests include political news analysis, media criticism and criminal justice reporting. I am working on a book about my family's experience with the criminal justice system–My Brother Moochie–that is scheduled to be published by Other Press, based in New York, this winter.
