• Artists & Art Historians

Our faculty and staff come from a range of backgrounds and specializations. In art history you'll find experts in topics such as the Gothic cathedral, Eugéne Delacroix and the Northern Renaissance. In studio art we have painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpting and digital.

Curious to know what it's like to learn the bronze casting process in a sculpture class with Prof. Cort Savage? Be a fly on the wall in this short video filmed in Davidson's foundry.

Our studio art professors are also professional artists who exhibit their work off campus. Assistant Professor. Tyler Starr presented "Auto Record" at the "Art in Odd Places" event in Greensboro, N.C.

Faculty & Staff

One of the greatest strengths of the Art Department is the presence of a close-knit group of committed and successful artists and art historians as teachers. As faculty members, we are professionally active on an international scale and share the results of our experience with students.

Additionally, a series of contemporary art exhibitions and programs involving Davidson's permanent art collection is organized by the gallery director and curator. Supporting the work of the department is a staff that includes the department assistant, visual resources curator, and lab technician. An extensive exhibitions and collections program is managed by the gallery director, assistant curator, and six gallery interns.
