I'm a sociologist of education, race and racism, and social memory with a research focus on the lives and careers of African-American educators in the United States. My current research project, however, examines the socio-legal and historical phenomenon of white faculty suing black colleges for "reverse discrimination." I teach courses in educational studies, sociology, and Africana studies, such as Schools and Society, Education in African-American Society, Growing up Jim Crow, and Critical Race Theory.
