Student Organizations

With more than 200 student organizations on campus it's easy to find people who share your interests, or to discover new ones.

History majors participate in a wide variety of student organizations, including academic clubs and societies, visual and performing arts, community service groups, health and wellness organizations, business/career-focused clubs, and faith-based groups, among many others.

If you have an idea or vision that is not realized in the existing student organizations, the Student Activities Office will work with you to develop your idea and create a new group.

Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta is a national honor society in history and our chapter, Alpha Nu Xi, initiates new members every spring. Members distinguish themselves by performing exceptionally high quality work in history courses and overall excellence in all their classes.
Organized nearly 100 years ago at the University of Arkansas, Phi Alpha Theta has grown to more than 900 chapters nationwide. It is a professional society that promotes the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning among historians in a variety of ways. It seeks to bring students and faculty together both intellectually and socially for mutual understanding and encouragement in their common interest in the study of history.

At Davidson, members of Phi Alpha Theta take the lead in several areas of departmental life, including student evaluation of candidates for teaching positions and organizing the "History Jeopardy" event at our annual spring picnic.

Amnesty International

Amnesty International aims to increase awareness on human rights abuses worldwide. The group advocates for political prisoners and people subject to unjust suffering believing students have the responsibility to understand the issues and work to resolve them.

Roosevelt Institute

The Roosevelt Institute aims to bring students' innovative ideas into political discourse and foster a progressive campus community focused on local and domestic issues. For more information, contact Stacey Reimer at streimer@davidson.edu.

Mock Trial Association

Mock Trial Association members gain hands-on knowledge about the theory and practice of law in the United States. Teams participate in trial advocacy competitions throughout the school year.

Pre-Law Society

The Pre-Law Society seeks to educate Davidson students about legal issues and education, and serves as a resource for students considering careers in the legal field. It arranges visits to law firms and law schools and invites legal professionals and educators to speak on campus. It also organizes affordable LSAT preparation courses and counsels students pursuing law school admission.
