Study Abroad

Davidson Students in Moscow

All Russian Studies and Russian Language and Literature majors spend a full year abroad to ensure advanced proficiency in Russian.  Our students regularly participate in top programs, including Middlebury's programs in Moscow, Yaroslavl' and Irkutsk and the Bard Smolny program in St. Petersburg.

  • Live in the heart of Moscow, Europe's largest cosmopolitan city.  Visit the Kremlin and Red Square.
  • Stroll along the canals of St. Petersburg, the "Venice of the North," and visit the apartment-museums of famous Russian poets.
  • Experience the warm hospitality and 1000-year history of Yaroslavl', one of the ancient Golden Ring towns.
  • Be adventurous and study in Irkutsk, Siberia. Marvel at the natural beauty of Lake Baikal, a UNESCO heritage site and the largest body of fresh water in the world, with its unique ecosystem and even its own species of fresh-water seals.

Whichever program you choose, the world will be your classroom. All classes are taught entirely in Russian, and students reside in the homes of Russian families.

Scholarships, grants and financial assistance programs are available.

Please contact Professor Amanda Ewington to discuss which program might be right for you.
