Congressional Globe, 1833-73
|
|
|
The "Congressional
Globe" was in print at the same time as the "Register
of Debates" and continued on after the Debates was no longer
published. From 1852 on, the Globe can be considered as a verbatim
account of the proceedings of Congress. Beginning with the 40th
Congress in 1867, the Globe includes the "History of Bills and
Resolutions. Moorehead, Joe
and Fetzer, Mary, ed. Introduction to United States Government
Information Sources. 4th ed., Co., Libraries Unlimited, Inc.,
1992. Palic, Vladimir, Government Publications, A Guide to
bibliographic Tools, 4th ed., Washington, Library of Congress,
1975.

The Globe is an invaluable tool for historians researching
this time frame. Davidson College Library's holdings
include the years 1833-1873 and are shelved in the Government Documents
area on the ground floor.
