Davidson College was founded by the Presbytery of Concord. The minutes of the Presbytery contain the earliest references to the college. Excerpts of the minutes relating to Davidson College have been made available for this project through the permission of the Salem Presbytery, the current copyright holder of the minutes, and through the Presbyterian Historical Society in Montreat, NC, holders of the original documents. Permission to use these materials must be obtained from Salem Presbytery.
