BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE:
Hugh McLees was a member of the Davidson College class of 1860. He transferred to Columbia Theological Seminary and graduated in 1862. He served in the western army of the C.S.A. until 1865. He served as a pastor and evangelist in South Carolina.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:
The collection consists of letters written by McLees to his brother describing college life and particularly, the religious life of the students.
