Office Information
The Archives exists primarily for use by the students, faculty and staff of Davidson College, although outside researchers are welcome as well. As the official repository for the records of Davidson College, the Archives collects, preserves, maintains, and makes available college records of administrative, legal, fiscal or historical value. The Archives also collects books, articles, brochures and pamphlets written by or about former students and faculty of Davidson College for use in its Davidsoniana Collection. In the following pages, you will find information on the Manuscript Collections, the Archives Collections, and the Photograph Collection of the Davidson College Archives. Although these three collections share common interests and uphold the goal of preserving historically valuable materials, each collection contains its own unique information. In addition, information has been provided on the history of the college and on special exhibits produced by the staff of the Davidson College Archives. The Archives serves the Davidson College community in the preservation and administration of institutional records and manuscript collections. The primary purpose of the Archives is to collect, preserve, maintain and make available institutional records of administrative, legal, fiscal or historical value. The Archives also serves as a repository for manuscript collections which are related to the College and the town of Davidson, or relevant to the College's curriculum. In conjunction with the preservation of historically valuable records, the Archives administers the College's records retention program overseeing the offsite storage, reference use of inactive records, and timely destruction of outdated records.
The Archives Department is open during the following hours: The Archives is located on the second floor of the E. H. Little Library. The library is situated directly behind Chambers Building in the center of the Davidson campus. Parking is available within a short walking distance of the library.
Donating Materials to the College Archives The Davidson College Archives welcomes donations that are related to the

addition, the Archives welcomes donations of manuscript collections related to
the history of Davidson College.
