Provides more than 837,000 definitions. You can search for either the acronyms and abbreviations or the definitions.

Contains the fully-searchable text of the 15th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style as well as the Chicago-Style Quick Guide and regularly-updated questions and answers about the style.

Contains the fully-searchable text of the College Blue Book (35th ed.; 6 vols; Detroit, MI: Macmillan Reference, 2008), which provides descriptions and information about degrees, programs, and financial aid sources for thousands of two and four-year colleges and universities. Also includes information about scholarships, fellowships, grants, and loans as well as occupational educational programs.

An online collection of over 390 reference books covering all subject areas; contains dictionaries (including foreign language dictionaries), encyclopedias, atlases, and subject-specific works. Useful for quick reference and basic information. For more detailed information, try the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
Europa World Year Book
Off-Campus access available through proxy server to current Davidson College students, faculty, and staff.
Contains the fully-searchable text of the current edition of the Europa World Year Book, which provides information about over 250 countries and territories and over 1650 international organizations. Includes basic statistical data (which can be used for country-to-country comparisons) as well as information about economic affairs, education, defense, government, and recent history. Also includes directories.
Note: The Little Library also has print copies of the Europa World Year Book from 1959 to the present (Reference R 341.1 E89).
Gale Virtual Reference Library
Off-Campus access available through proxy server to current Davidson College students, faculty, and staff.
Contains the full text of over one hundred reference books -- including many encyclopedias -- covering a wide variety of disciplines and subjects. Articles can be downloaded in pdf format. The Davidson College Library has some of these books in paper format as well.
