What is NC LIVE?

The North Carolina Libraries for Virtual Education (NC LIVE) is a consortium of public libraries, community college libraries, libraries at independent colleges and universities (such as Davidson), and libraries in the state's university system. It provides users of these libraries with free access to a wealth of electronic resources, including over 60 databases and full-text collections. NC LIVE is funded in part by the North Carolina General Assembly, the citizens of North Carolina, the Duke Endowment, the Cannon Foundation, and libraries at independent colleges and universities in the state, including the Davidson College Library.

For more information, see About NC LIVE.

You can get on-campus and off-campus access to NC LIVE resources from the Library's Indexes & Databases pages. The databases are listed along with the Library's own database subscriptions; to identify NC LIVE titles, just look for the NC LIVE logo Brought to you by NCLIVE.

  • Other NC Residents

If you have a public library card, you can access NC LIVE resources! North Carolina residents can search NC LIVE resources from within any public library in the state as well as from home with a special password.

To get the password for remote access, contact your local public library. Once you have the password, just go to the NC LIVE site to login. For more information, see NC LIVE's FAQ.
