Kaye-Lani joined the Admission and Financial Aid staff in 2013. Prior to her work in international admissions, Kaye-Lani was an international student and scholar advisor at Middlebury College. After many years advising students from all over the world, learning about their families, the foods they missed from home, and the unique attributes of their home countries, Kaye-Lani decided she wanted to travel to all these amazing places to meet the students and their families during the admissions process.
A big part of Kaye-Lani's life has been dedicated to international education. It all started in 1993 with her first overseas trip to Sofia, Bulgaria to cheer for her dad's swim team in the Deaf Olympics. From that first intercultural experience of cheering on athletes from over 80 countries, she was hooked. She set out to learn Spanish by taking classes throughout Latin America, earned her master's degree in intercultural relations, moved to Chile for an internship with Harvard's David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, and finally landed at Davidson College. She feels liberal arts colleges, in particular Davidson College, are the perfect place for international students. You'll get to know your professors by their first names, share a meal with them at Vail Commons, and probably meet their family members at the local farmer's market on Saturday mornings. It's all about community, both on and off campus. Send Kaye-Lani an email and she'll tell you her Davidson Daily Highlight. Come for a visit and you'll find out why she loves this special place.
