Belk Scholar Alumnus Joel Hewett currently serves as a consultant for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, part of the U.S. Department of the Interior. His previous positions include: Upstream Research Analyst for Wood Mackenzie, Policy Analyst for the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling, and Compliance and Contracts Analyst for immixGroup.
Hewett attended the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received an M.S. in the History of Technology from the School of History, Technology, and Society and was awarded the inaugural Melvin Krazenberg Graduate Fellowship and the institute-wide Ivan Allen Jr. Graduate Legacy Award, totaling move than $75,000 in funding.
At Davidson Hewett majored in English and participated in the Honor Council, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and held the Dean Rusk Watson Fellowship.
