Legacy

We are proud of the many generations of alumni who make a Davidson education part of their family tradition. The legacy program recognizes those families who embrace the broader Davidson family by sending their children to Davidson. It also offers a chance to welcome both new legacy students and their alumni parents back home.

What is a Davidson Legacy?

A student is considered a legacy if one or both of his or her parents attended Davidson. Our Office of Alumni Relations hosts a gathering on campus during Orientation for incoming legacy students, Family Weekend for all legacy students, and Graduation Weekend for senior legacy students.

Signature Legacy Programs

First-Year Legacy Luncheon

Incoming first-year legacy students and their families are invited to celebrate and are recognized for continuing the Davidson educational tradition. The event typically takes place at the start of Orientation and includes a welcome from the President as well as advice from a sophomore legacy student.

Family Weekend Open House

All legacy families are invited to an open house at the Nancy O. Blackwell Alumni House (420 N. Main Street) to explore past memorabilia and reconnect with other legacy families.

Graduation Legacy Luncheon

Graduating senior legacy students and their families are invited to celebrate their four years at Davidson before commencement on Sunday. The event typically takes place during graduation weekend and includes remarks from the president as well as from a senior legacy student.
