College Policies

The list below highlights some the college's institutional policies. Policies specific to academic departments or administrative offices can be found on their websites.

Non-Discrimination Policies

It is Davidson College's policy to admit qualified students and administer all educational, athletic, financial, and employment activities without discrimination based on race, color, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or local law unless allowed by law and deemed necessary to the administration of the college's educational programs or operations. Read the non-discrimination policies.

Sexual Misconduct Policy

The college is committed to providing maximum support for all students who have experienced sexual misconduct and strongly encourages students to report any incident. All college services are available to survivors of sexual misconduct regardless of whether or not a student intends to file a formal complaint. Learn more about the college's sexual misconduct policy and available resources.

Data Privacy Statement

The data privacy statement demonstrates our firm commitment to privacy by providing information and guidelines around the use of personal information as it relates to data sharing, website analytics, social media, digital marketing, and donor and alumni relations.

Student Grievance

The Student Grievance Policy and Procedure provides students with the opportunities and resources to express concerns, and for the college to have a consistent way of resolving those concerns in a fair and just manner.

Missing Student Policy

Most missing person reports in the college environment result from students changing their routines without informing roommates and/or friends of the change. For purposes of this policy, a student will be considered missing, if a roommate, classmate, faculty member, staff member, friend, family member or other campus person has not seen or heard from the person in a reasonable amount of time. Read the missing student policy.

Whistleblower Policy

Faculty, staff or students are encouraged to come forward in good faith with reports or concerns about suspected violations of college policies or illegal practices and may do so without fear of reprisal or retaliation. The college has a toll-free number for those wishing to remain anonymous. Read the whistleblower policy.

Academic Regulations

Academic regulations are established by the Davidson College faculty to ensure the academic integrity of the college. It is your responsibility as a student to be familiar with all academic regulations of the college. Read the academic regulations.

Admission Policies

Davidson's admission process is highly selective, and we enroll students who have academic potential and the motivation to succeed. We consider a broad range of achievement, recognizing that excellence comes in many forms. Visit the admission website to learn more about our admission policies.

Facility Use Policies

Guest Services handles all inquiries from non-college groups about using campus facilities. In advance of your event, review policies for non-college sponsored events and the college's alcohol policy.

Animal Care and Use Policy

It is the policy of the college that animals used in research and teaching will receive humane treatment and care at all times. All experiments involving live, vertebrate animals must be performed by or under the supervision of a qualified scientist. Read the animal care and use policy.

Human Subjects IRB Policy

Davidson College affirms that human research subjects should be treated with dignity, respect, and with due regard for their welfare. To protect these values, the college establishes the Institutional Review Board. The IRB shall review all research involving human subjects, performed under college auspices, for compliance with federal guidelines and with ethical standards.
