An examination of community engagement through a range of theroretical lenses. After interrogating constructions of "community," "service," and "civic engagement," we will explore the ways in which topics such as social justice, civic engagement, empowerment, diversity, and the ethics of service frame community work. Specific enactments of community involvement are explored including philanthropy, volunteerism, social entrepreneurship, and activism with a focus on leadership and change.
