The department offers a stimulating curriculum that includes courses on language, literature, film, and culture. Students may wish to major or minor in German, or fulfill requirements for distribution or concentration credit.

The German faculty take an active interest in their students and boast a substantial publication and service record. Strongly supporting the principle of study abroad, the department offers the Duke/Davidson in Berlin Program.
