To find editorials on a particular topic or event,
- Determine the date or time period when there was a lot of interest in your topic.
Editorials usually focus on current and controversial topics.
- Decide what type of editorials you want. Newspaper? Magazine? Journal?
- Choose an index or a database that covers both the types of publication you want (newspapers or magazines) and the time period in which you are interested.

- Academic Search Premier
(1975 to present) Indexes editorials in magazines, journals, and several U.S. newspapers. To find editorials:
- Enter your search terms and add the following: and (ZT "editorial")
Example: abortion and (ZT "editorial")
Search Syntax:
- Truncation: use an asterisk *
- Phrase searching: use double quotation marks " "
- Wildcard: use a question mark ?
- Historical Newspapers: The New York Times (1851-2004)
Includes the full text of editorials as well as many editorial cartoons.
To find editorials:

- At the bottom of the screen, click on "More Search Options."
- For Document Type, choose "Editorial article."

(Approx. 1980 to present) Includes the full text of editorials from local, national, and international newspapers.
To find editorials:
- Select the "Power Search" tab.
- Enter your search terms and add the following: and editorial

- Adjust the date range as appropriate.

Indexes, abstracts, and provides selected full text of editorials and articles from the following major national newspapers: The Christian Science Monitor (1988 to present), Los Angeles Times (1985 to present), New York Times (1999 to present), Wall Street Journal (1982 to present), and Washington Post (1987 to present).
