(1887 to present, with most titles dating from 1970s to present) Multi-disciplinary. Indexes over 13,000 popular and scholarly periodicals; 9,000 of these journals are full-text.
- Humanities Full Text
(1907 to present) Indexes articles in over 500 English-language periodicals in the fields of archaeology, art, classics, communication, film, folklore, history, languages and literatures, music, philosophy, religion, and theatre. Also includes citations for book, theatre, and film reviews as well as interviews, obituaries, and some original creative works. Includes the full text of selected articles from 1995 to the present.

Indexes articles on topics related to environmental issues, impacts, laws, policies, and technologies, including biodiversity, energy, land use, pollution, population studies, resource management, sustainable development, and more. Covers over 950 journals.
- Environment Complete
(1888 to present) Full-text articles from 950 journals, citations to articles from over 1,000 additional titles, and 190 full-text books. Covers agriculture, ecology, energy, natural resources, geography, pollution, environmental law, public policy, ubran planning, and related environmental topics.
- GreenFILE
(c. 1970s to present) Indexes articles on topics related to the human impact on the environment; covers global climate change, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. Includes citations to articles in scholarly, popular, and trade periodicals; also includes full text for more than 5,800 records.
- GREENR: Global Reference on the Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources
Includes a wide variety of materials on sustainability and environmental issues, including articles in journals, magazines, and newspapers; refereed case studies; videos; podcasts; and images. Also includes country, organization, and issue/topic portals.

- Historical Abstracts and America: History & Life
(Time period covered: 1450 to present [world history]; prehistory to present [U.S. and Canadian history]. Publication coverage: 1954 to present). Indexes journal articles, book chapters, doctoral dissertations, and book reviews. Combines the following two databases, which can also be searched separately:
- International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text
(c. 1982 to present) Includes citations to journal articles, books, essays, and doctoral dissertations on all aspects of theatre and the performing arts; international in scope. Includes the full text of 100 periodicals and 50 books.
- MLA International Bibliography
(1926 to present) Indexes articles, books, and dissertations in the areas of English, American, European, Asian, African, and Latin American linguistics, modern languages and literatures, film studies, and folklore.
- PAIS International
(1915 to present) Contains citations, with brief abstracts, to articles in over 800 English-language journals in public affairs. Also indexes government documents, pamphlets, directories, agency reports, and some books. Covers government, public administration, public policy, court decisions, political science, and international relations.
- Philosopher's Index
(1940 to present) Contains citations and abstracts from books and journal articles on philosophy and related fields.

- ProQuest Religion
(1986 to present) Provides indexing and some full text and full image for more than 90 religion periodicals. Full text begins with 1992.
- Sociological Abstracts
(1963 to present) Provides indexing and abstracting for articles in 1,500 journals and serial publications in the field of sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. Also provides coverage of reviews, monographs, and conference reports in these areas.
- Worldwide Political Science Abstracts
(1975 to present) Includes citations to articles appearing in over 1,000 political science journals. Covers the fields of comparative politics, economic policy, international relations, and political economy, among others. International in scope.

- Access World News: Research Collection
(c. 1985 to present) Over 600,000 full-text news sources, including local, regional, national, and international newspapers, newswires, broadcast transcripts, blogs, journals, and more.
- AP Images
(1826 to present [photographs]; 1920 to present [audio clips]; 1990 to present [charts and maps]; 1997 to present [text]) A collection of over 2 million photographs, 1 million audio clips, 48,000 diagrams, charts, maps, and timelines, and 2.8 million news briefs from the Associated Press (AP). Updated daily.
Photographs and graphics from the Archive cannot be sold, syndicated, loaned or used for advertising or for trade without the written consent of AP. In addition, users cannot republish any of the photographs on a Web page.
- LexisNexis Academic
(c. 1980 to present) Provides the full text of articles from local, national, and international newspapers, magazines, and trade journals as well as newswires, business information, patents, legal documents, and transcripts of radio and television broadcasts.
- Library PressDisplay
Contains full-page, full-color images of over 400 national and international newspapers, including many foreign-language newspapers; includes the current day's papers as well as a 60-day archive.

- Newspaper Source Plus
Contains the full text of articles in over 149 national and international newspapers, including The New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, and the Washington Post; also contains selected full text from 410 additional U.S. newspapers and transcripts of radio and television broadcasts.
- Readers' Guide Full Text Mega
(1890 to present) Indexes articles in over 300 popular magazines published in the United States. Covers a wide variety of subjects, including art, business, education, food, foreign affairs, political science, religion, science, sports, and health and nutrition. Also indexes book and film reviews.
- Vanderbilt Television News Archive
(c. August 1968 to present) A catalog of news broadcasts. This database contains:
- Streaming video of NBC nightly news broadcasts (August 1968 to present) and CNN broadcasts (1995 to present). Requires RealPlayer.
Note: content is added to the databases approximately 72 hours after it was broadcast.
- 850,000 abstracts of evening news broadcasts from ABC, NBC, and CBS (August 1968 to present); daily news programs from CNN (1995 to present), FOX News (2004 to present) and ABC Nightline (12 September 1988 to present); and a selection of special programs, including coverage of elections, political conventions, events related to September 11, 2001, and more.

Finding Books
Use library catalogs to find books, videos, government documents, journals, magazines, and newspapers. Davidson Library WorldCat contains information about materials owned by Davidson and libraries worldwide. You may also search in WorldCat Classic to find materials held in libraries around the world. If Davidson does not have a copy of what you need, use Interlibrary Loan to request it.
When searching for books and other materials in a catalog, try searching by keyword, author, or title. You may also search by Library of Congress subject headings. To locate appropriate subject headings, do a keyword search and then browse records. To search by subject heading, do an advanced search in Davidson Library WorldCat and choose "Subject" in the dropdown menu. Helpful subject headings include:
