  • Academic Search Complete
    (1887 to present, with most titles dating from 1970s to present) Multidisciplinary. Indexes over 13,000 popular and scholarly periodicals; 9,000 of these journals are full-text.

  • Omnifile Full Text Mega
    (1982 to present) Indexes articles from over 3,000 scholarly and popular periodicals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences; also includes the full text of selected articles from over 1,650 of these periodicals.

  • PsycINFO
    (1887 to present) Indexes journal articles, book chapters, books, technical reports, and doctoral dissertations in psychology and related disciplines.

  • PsycARTICLES
    (1894 to present) Contains the full text of 77 peer-reviewed journals published by the American Psychological Association (APA), Canadian Psychological Association, and Hogrefe Publishing Group. Most APA journals are available from volume 1, issue 1.

  • Web of Knowledge
    (c. 1900 to present) A multidisciplinary resource that provides citations to articles in over 10,000 journals in the social sciences, humanities, and sciences.

Business & Management

  • Business Abstracts with Full Text
    (1913 to present) Indexes over 2,000 business, industry, applied science, and technology periodicals, including scholarly journals, trade journals, popular magazines like Business Week, and selected newspapers, like The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Also contains citations for product reviews, corporate profiles, and interviews as well as the Industrial Arts Index (1913-1957) and the full text of selected articles from 1995 to the present.

  • Business Source Complete
    (1965 to present) Full text articles from nearly 4,000 scholarly journals, trade journals, and business magazines; also includes industry reports, case studies, market research reports, and over 1,000 books.

  • Annual Reviews
    (1932 to present) Contains the full text of review and overview articles on important topics in the Biomedical, Life, Physical, and Social Sciences. Includes the following Annual Review titles: Clinical Psychology, Neuroscience, Psychology, and more.

  • ASSIA: Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts
    (1987 to present) Indexes articles on topics related to health, economics, education, psychology, race relations, social services, and sociology. International in scope.

  • JSTOR
    A searchable archive of the back issues of major scholarly journals. Also includes 19th Century British Pamphlets and a collection of journals, monographs, and manuscripts related to Ireland.

  • Medline (PubMed)
    (1950 to present) Includes citations and abstracts to articles in over 5,200 biomedical, life sciences, behavioral sciences, chemical sciences, and bioengineering journals. This version of Medline is from the National Library of Medicine, which also provides links to some full-text articles as well as access to other health-related databases.
    The library also has Medline through Web of Knowledge (1950 to present).

  • Social Sciences Full Text
    (1907 to present) Indexes articles in over 500 English-language periodicals in the fields of anthropology, communication, corrections, economics, environmental studies, ethics, gender studies, geography, international relations, law, political science, psychology, sociology, and related subjects. Includes the full text of selected articles from 1995 to the present.

  • Sociological Abstracts
    (1963 to present) Provides indexing and abstracting for articles in 1,500 journals and serial publications in the field of sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. Also provides coverage of reviews, monographs, and conference reports in these areas.



Finding Books

Use library catalogs to find books, videos, government documents, journals, magazines, and newspapers.  Davidson Library WorldCat contains information about materials owned by Davidson and libraries worldwide.  If Davidson does not have a copy of what you need, use Interlibrary Loan to request it.

When searching for books and other materials in a catalog, try searching by keyword, author, or title.  You may also search by Library of Congress subject headings.  To locate appropriate subject headings, do a keyword search and then browse records. To search by subject heading, do an advanced search in Davidson Library WorldCat and choose "Subject" in the dropdown menu.
