Campus Emergency Exercise Today - May 28, 2015

On Thursday, May 28, Davidson College will conduct a full-scale campus emergency exercise in conjunction with Davidson Police, Davidson Fire Department, Cornelius Fire Department, Mount Mourne Fire Department and Mooresville Fire Department.

The event will occur on the main campus area, and the college asks that the general public avoid the area as much as possible from 9 a.m. until noon. The event will include the presence of emergency vehicles, equipment and personnel.

The exercise is part of regular emergency preparedness activities the college performs every year.

ITS Seeks Name for Innovation/Makerspace Lab

by Davidson College

ITS is preparing to open our new campus Innovation/Makerspace lab and we can't wait to show you what's in store. This is the space for you if you want to:

  • Print in 3D
  • Learn to fly a quadcopter/drone
  • Build and program a robot
  • Learn to code for OS X, Windows, iOS, Android or Linux
  • Create wearable computing devices
  • Learn how to make a stop-motion movie
  • Just plain tinker with technology

But we are still missing one thing: A name! We are looking to give this new venture a name that captures its purposes – showcasing cutting edge technologies, experimentation and collaboration. Students, faculty and staff are invited to submit name suggestions to Brian Little or Mur Muchane by noon on Thursday, Oct. 10. Multiple entries are okay. Please see Inside Davidson (login required) to learn more about a gift for the winning name.

We welcome your participation and encourage you to contact Brian Little or Mur Muchane with your thoughts and questions.
