The tools, the technology, the space and, yes, even the name, are finally in place and we are ready to show you our new educational technology initiative. We cordially invite you to visit our new makerspace, Studio M, on Tuesday October 29 during the Common Hour. Please come down to room 260 in the South Chambers Basement and see what we have been working on. If you cannot make it during Common Hour, we will have the Studio open all day Tuesday for folks to drop in and have a look around. Refreshments will be served and ITS staff will be on hand to answer questions and help you plan your next project.
As part of the open house, we will be showing a variety of emerging technologies that can be used to enrich teaching, learning and research. For example, 3D printing and scanning to reproduce findings from an archaeological dig; quadcopters for field research and aerial video; coding programs that can analyze works of art or literature and sensors and data acquisition devices for tracking elusive species.
Open, engaged, and experimental are the defining terms for this new space so please bring your questions, your project list and your ideas as we get started on this new learning adventure together.
