Google Apps for Education Available for All

by Mur Muchane

ITS is pleased to announce the availability and single sign-on for Davidson students and employees to Google Apps, a set of web-enabled applications including Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Docs and Google Drive. These free resources are not intended to be used for handling institutionally sensitive information – financial, FERPA, personnel, etc.

Our implementation of Google Apps for Education leverages our identity management partnership and affiliation with Internet2 and InCommon. The Davidson version of Google Apps is free of advertising and utilizes your existing Davidson username and password. By using your Davidson credentials, invitations to share files appear in your Davidson email, streamlining the process of document creation and collaboration. This new capability also means you do not have to remember and manage a separate username and password.

If you have used the consumer versions of Google Apps, you probably know most of what you need to know. If you haven't or want to learn more, ITS will be hosting a Tech Talk session early in the Fall semester.
Log on now at: http://docs.davidson.edu/, sign in with your Davidson username and password, and explore the potential uses.
