The library has acquired a new, interdisciplinary ebook collection: Ebsco eBook Academic Collection. This collection contains over 113,000 ebooks in a wide variety of subject areas. All can be read online or downloaded for two weeks at a time (with unlimited renewals) to a desktop computer, laptop, iPad, iPhone, or other device. In addition, these ebooks can be accessed and read by an unlimited number of Davidson students, faculty and staff at any one time.
The Ebsco eBook Academic Collection is easy to search and use. You can search across the full text of all 113,000 titles. You can also create a personal collection of ebooks, add virtual bookmarks and notes, access a dictionary, and more by creating a free "My Ebscohost" account (click on "login" in the upper right-hand corner of the screen). You can also use this account to download ebooks to your computer, tablet, or smartphone. For instructions on downloading ebooks, see the guides to downloading ebooks to a desktop computer and downloading to an iPad.
You'll find links to the Ebsco eBook Academic Collection on the library's research guides; links appear on the main page and on the "find books" tab of each of the subject guides.
While there is some overlap between ebrary and the Ebsco eBook Academic Collection, a large percentage of the collection in each database is unique.
We are in the process of adding records for these ebooks to Davidson Library WorldCat, the library catalog. In the meantime, you can discover content by searching the database directly. If you have a list of titles that you would like us to check, we are happy to do that for you as well
