Davidson College invites the public Monday, April 14, to a concert of popular operatic and classical music by a first-time-ever collaboration of college choirs and orchestras. The event, titled "Do You Hear the People Sing?"® will fill the Duke Family Performance Hall Frasier Stage with more than 200 musicians from the Davidson College Choral Arts Society, Symphony Orchestra and Opera Workshop.

The curtain will rise at 7:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $5-15, and the program is free for students. For tickets, contact the box office at 704-894-2135 or purchase online at davidson.edu/tickets.

The performance will highlight 17 student vocalists, as well as a live student orchestra and full chorus. It will feature popular opera tunes, and songs from The Magic Flute, Gilbert & Sullivan, a newly commissioned arrangement of music from Les Misérables and more.

Jacque Culpepper, director of the Opera Workshop, said, "For years, Dr. Keith and I have dreamed about putting our student opera singers and orchestra together for an operatic collaboration. With the addition of our fantastic and energetic choral director, artist associate Chris Gilliam, the time was right!"
