Inside Higher Ed: Clark Ross Calls for Rebirth of Introductory Economics

Prof. Clark RossJohnston Professor of Economics and Dean of Faculty Emeritus Clark G. Ross advocates for reform in the teaching of introductory economics courses. He argues that, under current practices, "students are not necessarily learning to think like economists and understand the power of economics as an explanatory tool for human behavior." If economics is to be a central player in grappling with some of the world's most pressing problems, Ross maintains, a new generation must be taught to appreciate the discipline through new and better pedagogical practices.
