A video blog produced by Tony Mills, education director for the Low Country Institute, features Davidson's Meagan Thomas and an impressive reptile. Thomas, research director of Davidson's herpetology lab, shows off a 5-foot canebrake rattlesnake she caught and placed in a clear plastic tube for safe keeping. Thomas tells Mills that she caught the snake while taking inventory of diamondback rattlesnakes at the Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge near Savannah, Ga.

Mills, Thomas and the snake can be viewed on the March 14 episode of Mills' "Hiking Shorts" blog.
