Bobbie Hinson

Bobbie Hinson has taught science at Providence Day School, Charlotte, North Carolina for 39 years where she presently teaches AP Biology. Mrs. Hinson earned both a B.S. in Biology and an M.A. in Biology from Appalachian State University.

Bobbie has been active in teacher training for many years, presenting workshops at State (NCSTA) and National Conferences (NABT, NSTA) and teaching summer AP Biology institutes at both NC State University and UNC-Charlotte. Bobbie also teaches one-day AP Biology workshops for the Southern Region of the College Board. She has been an AP Biology Consultant and Examination Reader for the College Board since 1989 serving as reader, table leader, exam leader, and question leader.

She served as District 6 Director of the NC Science Teachers Association from 1988-1991 and was the Board Secretary from 1991-1995. Hinson is also a member of NSTA and Delta Kappa Gamma (Woman in Education). She now serves as the District V Regional Coordinator for the National Association of Biology Teachers.

Bobbie is the recipient of numerous awards, including the North Carolina Outstanding Biology Teacher Award for NABT, the Tandy Prize, the Distinguished Service to Science Education award from the NC Science Teachers Association, and Sigma Xi's Outstanding Science Educators Award.
