Logan Arts & Culture Grant

Established by Joe Logan '77, the Logan Arts & Culture Grant supports Davidson students pursuing summer internships in the visual, literary and performing arts. Administered by the Center for Career Development, the grant awards a minimum of three students up to $5,000 each summer.

You and your chosen internship must meet the same requirements listed for the Career Development Summer Internship Grant. This internship grant is designated for students interning with the North Carolina Arts Council, the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, Old Salem Museums and Gardens, or the Penland School of Crafts.

How to Apply

You must apply for internship positions at either organization through Handshake (login required). Each organization reviews applications, interviews and selects its own interns.

The application period for each organization varies. Once you are placed with an organization, the Center for Career Development will contact you to finalize details regarding the internship grant.

Expectations of Grant Recipients

If selected for a grant, recipients agree to:

  • Submit a Grant Acceptance Form prior to the receipt of funds.
  • Refund Davidson College for funds not used for specified experiences or in excess of the prospective budget (the Center for Career Development staff retains the authority to determine the sum of such a reimbursement).
  • Secure a performance evaluation from internship site supervisor.
  • Complete a written survey at the completion of the internship.
  • Write thank you letters to assigned donors, sharing the impact of the experience.

Acceptance of a Logan Arts & Culture Grant is, in turn, acceptance of the Davidson Honor Code. If any infractions are suspected, the student risks forfeiture of part or all of the award, and Honor Code charges.
