Each year, through the James C. Gaither Junior Fellows program, (formerly the Carnegie Endowment Junior Fellows), the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace offers approximately 12-14 one-year fellowships to uniquely qualified graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated during the past academic year. They are selected from a pool of nominees nominated by several hundred participating universities and colleges. James C. Gaither Junior Fellows work as research assistants to Carnegie's senior scholars.
The current salary is $3,291.67 per month ($39,500 per year). A full benefits package is also provided.
Application forms, procedures and information are available through the Fellowships and Scholarships Program, Center for Career Development. Due to the nomination process and varying on-campus application procedures, the Gaither Junior Fellows program is unable to accept applications directly from students.
Applicants must be graduating seniors or students who have graduated during the last academic year. Students who have started graduate studies are ineligible for consideration. The Gaither Junior Fellows program accepts applications only through participating universities (Davidson) via designated nominating officials. If you graduated during the previous academic year and have not started graduate studies, you may apply through the university from which you graduated.
Applicants should speak with the Fellowships and Scholarships Program, Center for Career Development early in the fall of senior year to get the application materials (usually available around October 1). Applications are due mid-November. The Graduate Fellowships Committee selects the college's two nominees from among the applicants.
Two, plus the institutional nomination letter.
Campus deadline for the 2018 Fellows program is November 10.
Interviews are required for the internal Davidson process as well as the final Gaither Junior Fellows program process.
