Davidson College provides income assistance to full-time employees who must be absent for an extended period of time due to sickness or injury. For full details of the policy, please review the Short Term Disability Policy.
Davidson College, at no cost to employees, provides for Long Term Disability (LTD) coverage in the event of an accident or illness that causes an employee to be out of work for longer than 6 months. This benefit pays 60 percent of the employee's salary while he/she is on LTD. For full details of the policy, please review the Long Term Disability Policy.
Because the college-paid LTD coverage is counted as taxable income, the college also offers a Long-term Disability buy-up through Unum, offered each February to new hires in the previous year. Unum sends information to eligible employees each year. For information about the voluntary buy-up options, please call Human Resources at 704-894-2444.
