Rising high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for the July Experience program.
Yes, international students are encouraged to apply. Please submit scores from the TOEFL iBT or IELTS language proficiency exam along with your application if English is not your native language.
The application deadline for July 2018 is Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
July Experience courses are not for academic credit. The program offers a space to take academic risks without the pressure of impacting a student’s permanent record. Students are graded on a Honors/Pass/Fail basis and receive individualized feedback from professors.
There is no application fee for the July Experience program.

Yes. Students will receive an email from us notifying them that their application is complete within seven days of the receipt of the complete application. Students must consistently check their email so that they don’t miss any important updates about their application or admission status.
Davidson College is committed to access and affordability. Financial aid is available to students with financial need. A limited amount of aid is available and is awarded based on academic achievement and need. Financial aid must be requested and all documentation must be submitted by the application deadline to be considered.
Students will have the opportunity to rank their choices for both morning and afternoon courses after they have been admitted to the program. Most students receive at least one of their first-choice classes.
July Experience is an academically competitive program. Historically, our acceptance rate for the program has been approximately forty-five percent. Rising seniors tend to fare better in our process as there is more academic history to evaluate.
It is recommended but not required that students bring a laptop computer or tablet. Students will have access to computers at Davidson during study hall and free time hours. Students should also bring school supplies needed for two academic courses (notebooks, planner, writing utensils, backpack). July Experience provides required textbooks.
No, July Experience is a college-immersion program and residential life is an important part of the experience. Students are required to live on campus for the duration of the program.
We will provide shuttles between 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sunday July 1, and 8-11 a.m. on Saturday July 21 with a fee of $20 each way. If students arrive or depart outside that time frame, they will be responsible for arranging their own travel from the airport to Davidson. All students will need to be moved out of the dorm and checked out by 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, July 21. The final shuttle for the airport will leave at 11 a.m. There is only space for July Experience participants on shuttles. Parents should plan to arrange their own transportation.
Roommates are assigned at random for the program and roommate requests/changes are only honored if a specific need is shown. All requests must be approved by the director.
Students should not bring their personal vehicle to campus as they are not permitted to leave campus on their own during the program.
Visitors at any time during the program are strongly discouraged and must be approved by the July Experience director prior to the program.
Davidson is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for students to learn, work, and enjoy all that campus has to offer. Campus police officers are on duty 24 hours a day. The office is open from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. daily and an on-duty officer is available at all times. Participants will be oriented to campus resources and equipped with all appropriate contact and emergency phone numbers at the beginning of the program.
