The congregation was organized by John G. Schwartz in 1828. The organization meeting took place in a log house about two miles southeast of the present church location. In 1845 the first building was replaced with a larger and more substantial structure which the congregation continued to use for 110 years. It was during 1951-1955 that St. Luke erected a large, beautiful brick building, all of which was paid by 1957. The members and pastors have given strong and energetic support to their community and surrounding areas.
