St. Matthew's Church: 1827 to Present
St. Matthew's Church St. Matthew's congregation is:
  • Caring for older members in the community
  • Committed to the training and education of children and adults both physical and spiritual
  • Increasing the devotional life of the members of the community.

St. Matthews organized in 1827 three years after the Lutheran Synod of South Carolina and Adjacent States (1824) and before the Seminary (1831).

Eight miles from the community of Pomaria, South Carolina, the congregation is on the eastern edge of Newberry County, South Carolina -- almost one mile from the Broad River and Fairfield County.
