International Student Loan Policy


An international student may be required to pay federal and/or state taxes during his or her time at Davidson College. The college recognizes the limited financial opportunities that may be available to some international students. As such, it reserves some funds to loan to international students needing assistance with payment of their taxes.


This policy seeks to inform international students of the opportunities to borrow money from the college to pay for federal and/or state taxes.


An international student may request a loan from the college to pay federal and/or state taxes owed.

Administration of Policy

The Controller/Director of Business Services shall oversee this policy and review it at least once every two years. Changes to this policy shall be made in accordance with the college's Policy on Policies. International students desiring a loan to pay for taxes owed shall follow these steps:

  1. Student fills out federal and state tax returns which indicate amount owed for federal and/or state taxes.
  2. Student fills out loan request in Business Services for amount owed for taxes.
  3. Accounts Receivable Associate bills loan amount to student's account using charge code RECK (Description: ex: 99 Federal taxes owed) and files copy of loan request with billing backup.
  4. The Accounts Receivable Associate submits accounts payable voucher coded to Fund 10 Account 220205 and original tax return to Accounts Payable Coordinator in the Business Services office for payment.
