Davidson College anticipates that each student who begins the academic semester will complete the term. Occasionally, circumstances arise which require the student to withdraw from classes.
This policy seeks to inform students and parents of the college's policy on when a refund of tuition may be granted for a student's withdrawal from classes after the beginning of the academic term.
The college shall refund 100% of a student's tuition, housing charge, and activity fee if the student withdraws by the tenth day of classes. Otherwise, the college does not refund tuition, housing charges, or the activity fee.
Meal plan charges are always refunded on a pro-rata basis as determined by the date of withdrawal.
The Controller/Director of Business Services shall oversee this policy and review it at least once every two years. Changes to this policy shall be made in accordance with the college's Policy on Policies.
Parents or students shall submit their request for refund to the Office of Business Services if withdrawal is by the tenth day of classes. Refunds may be issued after the tenth day if the student purchased Tuition Refund Insurance. These funds shall be distributed by AGW Dewar, Inc., the college's tuition refund insurance provider.
