89.9 WDAV Classical Public Radio, a public radio service of Davidson College and licensed to the Trustees of Davidson College, is a member-supported public radio service providing classical music and cultural arts programming over the air at 89.9 FM and 89.9 HD-1 and HD-2, online at wdav.org, and through free apps for smartphones and tablets.
The station's 24-hour service is certified by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and is a member of NPR, (National Public Radio) APM (American Public Media), and the North Carolina Public Radio Association (NCPRA). WDAV reaches a Charlotte, N.C.-centered 22-county market of 2.2 million people. The station attracts approximately 125,000 listeners each week and receives financial support from 5,200 members. Occasionally, offers of support are made on the condition that certain artists, performances, or concerts are promoted. As a listener-supported public radio station, WDAV may not accept these offers of support.
This policy seeks to inform the public of WDAV's position regarding accepting offers of support for the broadcast of specific artists, performances, or concerts.
WDAV shall not accept any financial contribution made on the condition or with the expectation that certain artists, concerts, or performances will be broadcast over any other artist, concert, or performance.
Promotion and air time shall be set by WDAV staff independently and without consideration of donations or contributions.
The General Manager of WDAV shall oversee this policy and review it at least once every two years. Changes to this policy shall be made in accordance with the college's Policy on Policies.
