The College Relations Office has a dual mission: 1) to communicate with external constituencies (alumni, parents, friends, business and industry) and the college community the goals, objectives, news, and events of Davidson and 2) to involve these same constituencies in the life of Davidson College. Included within the auspices of College Relations are Campus and Community Relations, College Communications, Development, and WDAV offices. Staff
This policy seeks to inform staff members and volunteers of the college's requirement of confidentiality regarding the Personal Information of college supporters.
Staff members and volunteers shall not reveal the Personal Information of a donor, potential donor, or college supporter for any purpose outside of the dual mission of the College Relations Office.
Staff members shall agree to and sign the College Relations Confidentiality Agreement prior to obtaining access to any Personal Information.
Volunteers shall receive an annual reminder of the importance of confidentiality in the work they do on behalf of Davidson College.
All documents containing Personal Information designated for disposal shall be shredded. No documents containing Personal Information shall be left unattended in a public place or overnight.
"Personal Information" refers to the donor's name, mailing address, phone number, email address, credit card number, giving history, and/or any other personally identifiable information maintained by the college.
The Vice President for College Relations shall oversee this policy and review it at least once every two years. Changes to this policy shall be made in accordance with the college's Policy on Policies.
The College Relations Office shall take all reasonable care in the selection of staff and volunteers.
The College Relations Office shall maintain signed copies of the College Relations Confidentiality Agreement (DOC) for each staff member.
