The College Store is responsible for placing textbook orders on behalf of faculty. The College Store has designated an individual to serve as the textbook manager-the primary liaison between faculty and the bookstore for textbook ordering. Federal law requires that the College Store provide the Registrar with timely access to textbook information for student consideration during the class registration period. See Higher Education Opportunity Act, Pub. L. No. 110-315, § 112, 122 Stat. 3078, 3107 (2008).
This policy informs faculty members of the necessity for submitting textbook requests in a timely fashion as well as the requirement for the College Store to submit textbook information to the registrar prior to class registration.
All textbook requests shall be submitted to the Davidson College College Store Textbook Manager by the last day in February for the upcoming fall semester and by the last day in September for the upcoming spring semester.
Faculty members are responsible for obtaining their own desk copies of textbooks. The College Store, however, shall assist faculty members in this effort upon request.
The Auxiliary Services Director shall oversee this policy and review it at least once every two years. Changes to this policy shall be made in accordance with the college's Policy on Policies. The textbook manager shall communicate with the faculty prior to the months of February and September so as to provide advance notice for the deadline. Communication shall be by email and public announcements at monthly faculty meetings.
